About HS Mat Darus

Halimaton (Hali) is a director of Balfoort Consulting Pte Ltd in Singapore and Managing Director of Balfoort Consulting Sdn Bhd in Malaysia. She was born in Malaysia from mixed Asian parentage (Filipina, Malay and Chinese) and studied at Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand where she completed a BCA in Commerce and Administration with a specialization in employment law in 1990. She has lived in New Zealand until moving to Eastern Europe in 1996.

Hali was previously the Corporate Services Director for a professional consulting company based in the Baltic States (Balfour & Co), where she managed an extensive MNC client base including Samsung (Electronics), Narvesen (Retail), House of Prince (Tobacco), Philip Morris (Tobacco), EBRD (Investment Banking), Noordnatie (Port and logistics), Tele2 (Telecommunications) and other multinational companies.

She maintained client relationships, ensured finance and accounting responsibilities were discharged, maintained interfaces with local authorities and undertook detailed HR projects for clients including search and selection, conducting surveys, applying psychological tests, and undertaking client operational reviews from an HR perspective. She also managed the ISO 9000 quality systems implementation for Balfour & Co.

She successfully replicated the business model to Madagascar (Indian Ocean) where she established Balfour & Co Sarl in 2002 and managed professional services and a client portfolio which included Courts Madagascar and other foreign companies.

Hali speaks Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia, and English besides various European languages.
