Transfer
Factors
"A
fitter, healthier life for everybody."
WHAT
ARE "TRANSFER FACTORS"?
Since
our own journey of discovery started some thirty years ago
with research and experience of homeopathy, we have become
firmly convinced that there are better ways to maintain health,
both mentally and physically, than purely through usage of
antibiotics and doctor's visits. One of the first principles
we have learnt is that one should take responsibility personally
for health, and use medical advice in the proper context without
abdicating this responsibility.
To
do this requires an interest in the body's functions, functionality
and a willingness to listen to body responses and warnings.
Medical advice is useful to confirm diagnosis, and treatment
is often more effective and less invasive than traditional
antibiotics, without many of the side effects suffered.
Over
the past five years we have become familiar with Transfer
Factor, and our regular usage of basic products regulating
our immune system functioning and effectiveness shows very
good results. Further details, both medical results and product
information, are contained on this page. If you require further
feedback or information, please contact us on info@balfoort.com.my.
Transfer
Factors are tiny messenger molecules (amino acids) that transfer
signals between cells in our immune system. These signals
contain critical immune programming; the transfer cells in
essence impart recognition codes to naïve cells, educating
and equipping them with the information they need to identify
and deal with pathogens (hostile invaders such as viruses,
bacteria or other microorganisms that can cause disease).
Transfer
factors are not vitamins, minerals, herbs, hormones or drugs.
They contain nothing foreign, nothing toxic, or nothing counter-productive.
In
order to explain their importance to our health, we first
need to review how the immune system works.
1.
THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
Whenever
we get an infection or a disease our body reacts to it and
attempts to defend itself, usually successfully, but regrettably
sometimes not.
Every
foreign virus or germ or bug or whatever you want to call
it, that enters our system carries a marker like a finger
print, this is called an ANTIGEN. Our body's immune system
is designed to:-
A)
Recognize that this antigen is foreign to us,
B)
React to counter it and neutralise it. and
C)
Remember it, ready for the next time.
The
symptoms of the disease that we experience are evidence of
the battle that our immune system is fighting to neutralise
the invading bug. For example whenever we catch a cold or
flu, we experience things like sore throats, running noses,
headaches etc. These result from the battle in which our immune
systems are engaged. Whist this is going on we take medicines
to ease the effect of the battle, aspirins to reduce pain,
cough syrups to ease our throats etc., but these don't fight
the infection, they just make it less debilitating for us
whilst our immune system gets on with the job.
After
it is all over our system remembers the antigen, and stands
ready to quickly neutralise the bug next time it appears.
We never catch or experience the same cold or flu twice. The
reason why we may seem to catch endless colds or flu is that
the virus mutates, and appears with a different antigen, so
it is new to our system. Good examples of how this system
works and how medicine responds to it are:-
Vaccination
/ Innoculation. In this case we are inoculated with live
or dead viruses. Our system reacts to the antigens and remembers
them, instantly neutralizing the virus whenever it reappears.
Transplants.
Whenever a patient receives a transplant, whatever the organ
is, a major problem is rejection. The immune system recognises
the transplant as foreign and struggles to reject it. Doctors
are then faced with trying to shut the immune system down
until the transplant is finally accepted as part of the recipient's
system.
Antibiotics.
Finally, with the invention or discovery of antibiotics,
it was at first thought that we now had the magic answer to
all health problems. Whereas it is true that antibiotics can
provide us with an increased ability to kill off or inhibit
the growth of bacteria, they are not the answer to everything.
For example they have absolutely no effect upon viruses such
as the common cold or flu.
The
danger is that antibiotics are frequently prescribed because
patients have grown accustomed to the idea that a course of
antibiotics will be good for them, when in fact they are useless.
Even worse, it is probable that antibiotics will kill off
useful bacteria which are part of our normal system, sometimes
producing unfortunate side effects.
Over-use
of antibiotics has led to resistant strains of bacteria, and
the reduced effectiveness of this treatment. As a result the
medical profession is now being encouraged to limit their
use.
"The
first rule of antibiotics is try not to use them, and the
second rule is try not to use too many of them."
Paul L Marino 2007.
It
is readily apparent that it is our immune systems that are
vitally important in keeping us healthy.
Further
details on Transfer Factors and how they work are available
in an E Book called Transfer Factors by Rita Elkins, M.H,
listed at the end of this introduction.
2.
BUILDING OUR IMMUNITY
Everyone
has an immune system, some better than others, and in some
cases over reacting in the case of auto immune deficiencies.
New born babies receive transfer factors from their mother's
colostrum (the first milk rich in antibodies that the baby
receives immediately after birth). The child therefore inherits
all the immune system information that its mother has, giving
it protection and the ability to fight off infection. What
we don't inherit from our mothers we have to gradually build
for ourselves.
It
is estimated that our bodies can react to over 100 million
different antigens, and whilst our immune systems routinely
sift and sort through trillions of cells, they may be lacking
as many as 50,000 specific antigen responses. Without immune
awareness of these missing responses, we become more vulnerable
to these specific invaders, and it would seem wise to bolster
our systems by increasing our inherited stockpile of transfer
factors.
Transfer
factors are not 'Species Specific', and all mammals have immune
systems that work in exactly the same way. In short, transfer
factors taken from one mammal works in any other, including
humans. Transfer factors have been successfully separated
out from cow colostrum to make them readily absorbable by
the human system and avoid any allergic reaction to people
sensitive to cow's milk.
These
transfer factor preparations from cow colostrum have registered
startling improvements in clinical tests undertaken in the
USA.
Anytime
we can boost the action taken by our natural killer cells
(our immune cells that seek out and destroy foreign invaders),
we greatly enhance our ability to fight disease.
In
1999, a selection of 196 natural products was selected from
over 400 products tested. Of these, 44 products were found
to significantly enhance natural killer cell activity, the
most powerful by 48.6%
Transfer
factors from colostrum were also tested and registered an
extraordinary 103% improvement, and finally, transfer factors
combined with other natural products that also support immunity
registered an amazing 248% improvement.
